Studio spaces for upper-division BFA Photo/Media students. The studios are private and lockable, and are accessible 24/7 during the school year.

In this 1,600 square foot multi-use production and installation space, roughly half the space is painted black, and the other half is a white L-shaped cyclorama wall. Located next to School of Art gallery spaces, openings of film school student installations take place here as part of Thursday Gallery Nights, a fixture of CalArts student life.

The School of Theater has two large Black box Theaters, each approximately 2,500 square feet with a pipe grid and dedicated control booth, accommodating a wide range of performance and design approaches. Each space has its own dedicated sound and lighting inventory available for use in addition to the general stock.

School of Art

A402 is another of the seven main galleries available for exhibitions in the School of Art. Especially loud sound installations can be shown in A402.

The Experience Design and Production program has its own Light Lab, a specialized room designed to hold a large lighting setup, stocked with many different varieties of lighting equipment, and several computerized control systems. Several manufacturers in the lighting entertainment industry sponsor the students by providing practice equipment where mockups and exercises are held.

Situated above the Main Gallery, The Mint and The Lime are two smaller white cube galleries available to School of Art students for more intimate exhibitions.
