Leading contemporary artists and curators deliver lectures in this year’s continuation of an historic series from the School of Art, CalArts.

The Paul Brach Visiting Artist Lecture Series (PBVALS) is a platform for students to engage in meaningful conversation with artists: discuss their practice, current issues, and perspectives on art. This fall’s visiting artists are:

Kenyatta AC Hinkle (MFA 12) Rita González
Katya Grokhovsky Colleen Asper
T.J. Dedeaux-Norris gloria galvez (MFA 16)
Cecilia Vicuña (Herb Alpert Fellow 19) Cameron Granger
Erica Dawn Lyle Nelson Garrido
Elle Pérez Troy Michie
Isabel Parkes with DonChristian Jones Andy Robert (MFA 11)

This year’s organizing committee—Zoë Sturges (Art MFA 21), Fía Benitez (Art/Integrated Media MFA 21), and Juan Herrera (Photo Media / Integrated Media MFA 21)—hope to enrich the series’ legacy.

PBVALS will partner with East of Borneo to host the lecture transcripts and video archive.

The lecture series will also continue its long-standing partnership with the Graphic Design Program, for which graduate candidates produce conceptually and visually stunning work on occasion of each artist’s visit.

All lectures are free, open to the public, and presented online. RSVP required. To register, please email artvals@alum.calarts.edu with the subject RSVP PBVALS.
