LA County Posts Targeted Safer at Home Order that Impacts Campus Employees

This email about L.A. County's new "Safer at Home" orders was sent to CalArts faculty and staff from the COVID-19 Compliance Taskforce.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued a new Targeted Safer at Home Order. The new order goes into effect tomorrow (Monday, Nov. 30) and will be in place until Dec. 20, 2020. The Health Officer advises residents to stay home as much as possible and always wear a face covering over their nose and mouth when they are outside their household and around others. For a full list of additional restrictions, you can find the revised order at:

http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/phcommon/public/media/mediapubhpdetail.cfm?prid=2830

In reviewing CalArts Returns guidelines regarding campus access, we feel that CalArts is well below the occupancy percentages required. If you are deemed essential in maintaining the following:

  • Activities required for faculty to carry out distance-learning and other remote activities;
  • Activities required for faculty and staff to carry out essential research projects; or
  • Activities required to maintain minimum basic operation.

We encourage you to check with your supervisor before proceeding to work tomorrow, Monday, Nov. 30 or as soon as possible.

As a reminder, anyone accessing the CalArts campus is required to take a temperature and health survey, wear face coverings and keep at least 6 feet of distance from others. We encourage everyone to continue taking appropriate health and wellness measures to stay safe.
