2024 World Music & Dance Festival at CalArts
FREE Concerts of Music from around the World

Location: Wild Beast Stage, Lund Dance Theater

Presented by The Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts, the 2024 World Music Festival features ten concerts of music and dance from Bali, Indonesia; Ghana, West Africa; India; Iran; Japan; and Latin America, as well as cross-cultural fusion.

A tradition that spans five decades, the festival features ensembles from the World Music Program, joined by celebrated alumnx and guest artists. On Friday evening, the Balinese Gamelan Ensemble concert, featuring guest artists I Made Sutjita, Hirotaka Inuzuka (World Music, MFA ‘10), and Joti Rockwell, will commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the U.S. This year, the festival also welcomes acclaimed guest artists Madan Oak (Saturday evening) and Extra Ancestral (Sunday evening). 
 
The festival will also feature concerts by Tabla, North Indian, Persia Electric, Latin Caribbean Collective, Japanese, African, and World Percussion ensembles. The full festival schedule can be found here.
