EARLY FAFSA - The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2017-18 is available at www.fafsa.gov as of October 1, 2016.
PRIOR-PRIOR YEAR TAX INFORMATION - In September, 2015 President Obama signed an executive order that allows families to complete the 2017-2018 FAFSA using income from the 2015 federal tax return (that same information that you provided if you filed a 2016-17 FAFSA). This will allow students and parents to report accurate income information on the FAFSA, as the vast majority of families will have already completed their 2015 taxes by October 1, 2016.
Transferring your 2015 tax information to the FAFSA -
As you complete the 2017-18 FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov you will be prompted to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT), which will load your 2015 tax information directly into the FAFSA from the IRS. Using the IRS DRT saves you time and effort. If you need help using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT), go to https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/resources/irs-drt-text
In the spring, students will receive an email notification with instructions to view financial aid awards online at hub.calarts.edu. Financial aid awards must be accepted or rejected online through the "Accept or reject my financial aid awards" link before financial aid can be processed.
Satisfactory Artistic/Academic Progress: Students must maintain satisfactory artistic/academic progress in order to be eligible for financial aid. Review this policy as well as the Academic Warning, Probation, Dismissal and Appeal policy in the “Course Catalog and Academic Policies” publication.
