The Writing Center

The Writing Center is an hybrid service where students can meet one-on-one with trained writing tutors to work on any writing-related task they face—from academic papers to artist statements, grant applications to resumes.

Students can make an appointment to meet with a tutor either in-person or virtually by using our appointment system, linked below. Tutors will assist students as they develop the skills of self-editing, organization, idea development, clarity and concision, and critical thinking. It is recommended that students plan to see a tutor more than once in the process of completing an assignment in order to receive the most comprehensive benefit.

The Writing Center also hosts biweekly ELL / language support workshops for MFA students, covering a range of English language-related skills and strategies.

Please email Rosa Evangelina, the Writing Center Fellow, at revangelina@calarts.edu for workshop details or to ask any questions about the Center's offerings.
