'you can live here, too'
CalArts, Fire Valley
FILM/VIDEO: you can live here, too will be a multimedia installation that works with the themes of queerness, body ecology, and the history of medical dissection. Imagery of the desert and canyons will pour from anatomical hearts as projected on tall banners hanging over guest musicians and spoken word artists. Just outside this space an effigy will be dramatically lit against the darkness. Branches protruding from its surreal form, the effigy will hold open its chest to reveal a beating heart and organs. The project seeks to exhibit the queer body amidst nature, questioning the notion of what is natural and unnatural in our genders or sexualities. you can live here, too will seek to link the biological with the ecological through community gathering/ritual.
