This workshop covers the basics of copyright, how it protects an artist's work, what it covers, and how to register your copyright with the Copyright Office. Apr. 8: Draper Pitch Competition - Sponsored by the HIVE

A Shark Tank-style pitch competition where artists will present visually-supported pitches developed over the course of the HIVE to a panel of external judges. The winning presentation will receive a stipend to work on their business idea in the HIVE Incubator, or win a spot in the HIVE Design Thinking Consulting Group. Both programs take place within a 5-week summer residency designed to be a creative, communal space with access to resourced and entrepreneur mentors to help further develop ideas.

The School of Art welcomes the CalArts community and the public into the creative workspaces of the graduate students in the Art, Photo & Media, Art & Technology, and Integrated Media programs. May 4: Digital Arts EXPO - Hosted by the School of Music

The DAE reflects the latest practices in technologically sophisticated arts, involving viewers in interactive experiences, bringing artists’ perspectives to computer games, forecasting future directions of digital performance, animation, and projection mapping, and exploring the latest in software and hardware as a means of commenting on our increasingly connected world. Highlighting new student and faculty projects made over this last academic year, the DAE’s exhibitions and performances run from early afternoon to late evening in the ROD Music Hall, MOD Theater, Main Gallery, Wild Beast, Machine Lab, and Lund Dance Theater.
