Launched in 2009, the CalArts Entertainment Group/CEG is a professional networking consortium for alumni working in the entertainment industry. Through a series of programs, workshops and speakers, CEG highlights Calartians' leadership in film, theater and television and supports alumni professional development and collaboration.

Don Cheadle (BFA Acting ’86) has continued to challenge audiences with compelling performances in film and television, earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his performance in Hotel Rwanda, a Best Supporting Actor Award from the Los Angeles Film Critics for Devil in a Blue Dress and a Best Supporting Actor BAFTA nomination for Crash.

In addition to his acting, Cheadle has been committed to international humanitarian causes, co-founding Not On Our Watch to end genocide in Darfur. In 2007, he received a Summit Peace Award by the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and a BET Humanitarian award for his work in Darfur and Rwanda. In 2010, he was named Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations. He has been a supporter of the International Rescue Committee relief organization and the Enough Project, working to end crimes against humanity.

At this intersection of art and politics, Cheadle has explored both narrative and documentary storytelling to engage audiences in critical social discourse – from the ravages of the Vietnam War in Hamburger Hill, to racial injustice in A Lesson Before Dying and Rosewood, to genocide in Darfur Now. Currently, he is appearing in Showtime’s House of Lies and developing a new project he has co-written.

A distinguished music industry A&R and new media executive, record producer, musician and composer, Guy Eckstine has produced and executive produced over 40 records, including four Grammy Award winners. A former student of John Bergamo's percussion program at CalArts, Guy began his music career as a session musician playing drums for Quincy Jones, Michael McDonald, Eddy Grant and Herbie Hancock, among others. Also, he is a founding member of the avant-progressive rock band SOMA.

Currently, Guy is a partner at Iconique Music Group, Inc., an A&R/creative direction, artist management and solicitation company based in New York, NY, which represents Justyna Kelley, The Pimps of Joytime, Incognito, Pete Belasco, Feels Like Friday and Phoam Technologies. Previously, he served as creative manager at Virgin Music, director of A&R at Columbia Records and vice president of A&R at Verve Records. Also, he was senior vice president of creative development at MP3.com and the co-founder of MIAATV.com.

In addition to his executive duties, Guy keeps the creative juices flowing by independently producing records as president of Guy Eckstine Productions, including the chart-topping Billboard Jazz release, Brian Culbertson’s Nice and Slow and Cyrus Chestnut’s A Charlie Brown Christmas.
