Campus Visits

We hope that you have an opportunity to visit our campus.

Information Sessions

Information sessions are small group meetings led by an Admissions Counselor to provide an opportunity for students to learn more about our programs and to ask questions about the application process. The information sessions require a reservation. We encourage you to register for the information sessions at least a couple of weeks in advance. Space is limited. Please note, no audio or video recording is allowed.

You should arrive no later than 11:45am if you wish to take the tour.

Spring 2017 Information Sessions Schedule

The Spring information schedule is as follows (January 9 - May 11).  During the Spring semester, CalArts will be closed on February 20.  Tours and information sessions will not be available on that day. In addition, information sessions and tours will not be held on Friday, April 7.

  • Art: Tuesdays and Fridays, 11am
  • Film/Video and Animation: Tuesdays and Fridays, 1pm*
  • Theater: Mondays and Thursdays, 11am
  • Music: Mondays and Thursdays, 1pm

  • Creative Writing and Aesthetics & Politics: To schedule, contact Seth Blake directly at sblake@calarts.edu

*We also have additional Film/Video and Animation information sessions scheduled on Wednesdays, March 22, March 29, April 5 and April 12 at 1pm.

Spring 2017 Campus Tours Schedule

During the Spring semester (January 9 - May 11), we offer tours Monday through Friday at 12pm.  Each day focuses on specific areas of our campus, please see schedule below.  Reservations are not required for the tour; however if you wish to attend an information session as well, please be sure to register for the appropriate information session.  CalArts will be closed on February 20.  Tours will not be available on that day. In addition, tours will not be held on Friday, April 7.

Our Spring campus tour schedule is as follows:

  • Mondays and Thursdays: Performing Arts campus tour (focusing on programs in Dance, Music, Theater)
  • Tuesdays and Fridays: Visual Arts campus tour (focusing on programs in Art, Photography and Media, Graphic Design, Film, and Animation)
  • Wednesdays: General campus tour

Please view our calendar of upcoming events for more information and to make sure a tour will be offered on the date you wish to visit.

Spring 2017 Housing Tours

CalArts offers Housing tours on Wednesdays at 1pm, January 11 through May 10*.  No reservation is required to join this tour! Please meet in the CalArts main lobby and we will walk interested visitors to the Office of Residential Life at that time. This tour is designed for prospective BFA students and parents.

*Due to the additional Film/Video information sessions on Wednesdays, March 22, March 29, April 5 and April 12, the Housing tour will take place at 2pm (following the information session).  Please meet in the CalArts main lobby.

Summer 2017 Information Sessions

During the Summer (May 15 - September 1), CalArts is closed on Fridays.  Tours and information sessions are not available those days.  Additionally, CalArts will be closed on May 29 and July 4 for the holiday weekends.  For more information and to register for a specific information session, please view our calendar of upcoming events.

Summer 2017 Campus Tours

During the Summer (May 15 - September 1), we offer tours Monday through Thursday at noon.  The campus tour will be approximately one hour long, but allow extra time should the tour take a bit longer.  Reservations are not required for the tour; however if you wish to attend an information session as well, please be sure to register.  

CalArts will be closed on May 29 and July 4 for the holiday weekends.  Tours and information sessions will not be available on those days. 

Getting to CalArts

CalArts' 60-acre, residential campus is located in Valencia, CA in the Santa Clarita Valley. The campus is north of Los Angeles, adjacent to Interstate Highway 5 on McBean Parkway -- 40 miles from Los Angeles International Airport, 21 miles from the Burbank Airport and 44 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
