New, Incoming International Students
- Since Fall 2014, all new international students entering CalArts are required to have coverage through the CalArts Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), which is provided by Anthem Blue Cross. In rare cases, international students may be eligible to be waived from this requirement if they can provide clear evidence that their alternative health insurance plan is either government-sponsored, embassy-sponsored or meets the requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Note: If purchasing a qualified health plan that meets ACA requirements, you must provide written documentation in English from the insurance company certifying that it covers all of the mandatory benefits of the ACA. International students who wish to be waived from this requirement for the 2016-17 academic year must provide the necessary documentation by September 1, 2016.
Information on the CalArts plan is available at www.4studenthealth.com/calarts and the prices for 2016-17 are listed above. If you have any questions regarding this insurance requirement please email Student Affairs at email@example.com.
Health insurance coverage is required for all CalArts students. However, if you are already covered by another plan and do not need CalArts coverage, please complete and submit a Health Insurance Waiver Form (CalArts Credentials required):
Once you have completed and submitted the waiver, the above amount will be removed from your statement within a few days. This waiver is good for the entire school year.
