Creative Practice Grants Available

This message was sent to all students from the Office of Student Experience regarding a new grant designed to offset the costs of making work remotely such as supplies and space and equipment rentals.

Dear Students,

As we begin offering limited access to campus now allowed by Los Angeles County Public Health, we know that there are many of you who are unable to take advantage of this access. We also realize that you are continuing to work on your art wherever you are located and we are inspired by your perseverance. To help students who might be facing financial obstacles to creating their art in their current location, we are now expanding our Emergency Grants and Project Grants to include a new Creative Practice Grant. These grants are supported through a combination of CARES act funds and institutional funds.

The Creative Practice Grant is designed to offset the costs of making work remotely such as supplies and space and equipment rentals. All currently enrolled students are eligible to apply for grants up to $1000 for costs incurred April 1 through the end of the semester (May 14, 2021). You will be required to provide documentation of your expenses, either through receipts for purchases made, or detailed quotes of your proposed spending.

To apply, please fill out the Creative Practice Grant application form.

We are proud of the tenacity and creativity of CalArts students and we are here to support you during the ongoing challenges we are facing as individuals and as a community. If you have additional questions or concerns beyond these financial matters, please reach out to the Office of Student Experience at studentexperience@calarts.edu

All my best,
