Aesthetics and Politics Fall Lecture Series 2024

Dr. Aby Sène, is a faculty member in Parks and Conservation Area Management at Clemson University, South Carolina. She is a trained environmental social scientist committed to advancing socially and ecologically just approaches to managing natural resources and cultural heritage in both the US and Africa. Her research delves into the intersections of parks and protected area governance, resource sovereignty and the relationship between Race and nature. Her current work draws from political ecology, anti-imperialism and anti-colonial movements to confront the enduring coloniality of environmental conservation policies and support agrarian struggles in African American and African rural communities.
