Stephanie Young

Stephanie Young worked for ten years as a designer, production manager, and technical director before joining the faculty at CalArts in 1985. She developed the production organization systems at the Santa Rosa Summer Repertory Theater where she served as production manager for eight years and at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival where she was the production manager for fifteen years. Active in the U.S. Institute for Theater Technology, she is serving her fourth term on the board of directors, has served as Vice President for Projects and was the Chair of the Planning and Priorities Committee for five years. In addition, she helped organize and run two national USITT conferences and has participated in a number of panels on stage and production management and job-hunting skills. She is an active member of the management commission and has served as an SM Mentor at several conferences. She also served as Conference Manager of the 1986 Illuminating Engineering Society/Theater, Television and Film International conference. She received a BA in history and drama from UC Santa Barbara, an MA in Theater from San Francisco State and an MFA in scene and lighting design from Lindenwood Colleges.
