Chair, Jazz Studies Program
Piano, Arranging David Roitstein teaches jazz piano, theory and ear training. He has been an active studio musician in the film and TV industry, and has performed with such diverse artists as Bruce Hornsby, Steve Kujala, Carmen McRae, Carmen Lundy, Sheena Easton, the Brecker Brothers, Pat Metheny, Steve Morse and Dixie Dregs, Jaco Pastorius, Ira Sullivan, Frank Sinatra and Mel Torme. Before starting to build the award-winning and innovative jazz program at CalArts in 1983, he was on the faculty at the University of Miami and CSU, Northridge. He is the producer of the six CalArts Jazz CDs, recorded at Capitol Records. roit@calarts.edu
