Film Directing Faculty For Real World Survival Skills And Post-Production
This is a half-time nine month faculty position in the
Qualifications
Candidates must have significant teaching experience and an ability to work with a diverse range of students whose filmmaking encompasses classical and experimental narrative, documentary and essay forms. They should have a respected national reputation as an artist with more than five years experience producing personal projects. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in 16mm filmmaking and digital production and post-production as well as having a wide-ranging knowledge of film history and theory.
Duties
Duties include teaching two workshop courses (one per semester) and contributing to organizing weekly guest artist visits. The first course concerns career strategies for graduating students, emphasizing internships, festivals, grant writing and independent production. The second concerns post-production strategies for thesis work, aimed at assisting students complete complex projects in various technical formats. Both courses make use of guest visits from independent filmmakers, craftspeople and technicians; an ability to successfully draw outside contributors to the classroom is necessary. Will also serve as an academic and artistic mentor to several students including being a member of thesis review committees as well as participating in departmental matters.
