Faculty Development Fund grants
The next deadline for the Faculty Development Fund Grant proposals is Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. All Regular/Technical Faculty (.50 FTE/OR MORE) are eligible to apply. All faculty members should have recently received the Faculty Development Fund cover sheet and a detailed memo from Laurence Blake on how to apply. Please email Trish Patryla if you would like both documents or need more information.
Interdisciplinary grants
Many faculty have asked for a summary of interdisciplinary grant deadlines during this transitional year (2007-2008). There are three modest groups of funding available this year:
(1) Round Three Interdisciplinary grants for student projects -- Proposals are due May 2, 2008 to Justine Garrett in the Provost's Office. Proposals for Round Two were due on December 3, 2007.
(2) International, Interdisciplinary Travel Funds -- This is very modest funding that will be administered through the Deans Council. Students and/or faculty who plan to travel internationally during the 2007-2008 academic year to further work on an interdisciplinary project are encouraged to submit a proposal to their deans for travel support. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all funds are awarded.
(3) Interdisciplinary Course Development Funds -- Funding will be awarded to a small number of faculty to develop interdisciplinary course content. A subset of these would be then funded as courses during the 2008-2009 academic year. Faculty members who are interested should have been in touch with their dean about their ideas and submitted a brief proposal to the Office of the Provost no later than December 10, 2007. Proposals were discussed at Deans Council, in collaboration with the Co-Chairs of Academic Council, on December 11, 2007. Courses that will be offered during the 2008-2009 academic year will be announced in May.
